Advance existing PON networks with new XGS-PON
With much of the world moving to operate remotely in countless industries and businesses, the demand for reliable high-speed internet services has skyrocketed. Bottlenecks in bandwidth and speeds have sent many service providers scrambling to upgrade their network infrastructure to meet the sudden surge in service usage.
Distributing fast connectivity to the home with next-generation XGS-PON
-
XG-PON (10G down / 2.5G up): ITU G.987, 2009. XG-PON is essentially a higher bandwidth version of GPON. It has the same capabilities as GPON and can co-exist on the same fiber with GPON. XG-PON has been minimally deployed to date.
-
XGS-PON (10G down / 10G up): ITU G.9807.1, 2016. XGS-PON is a higher bandwidth, symmetric version of GPON. Again, it features the same capabilities as GPON and can co-exist on the same fiber with GPON. XGS-PON deployments are just beginning.
-
NG-PON2 (10G down / 10G up, 10G down / 2.5G up): ITU G.989, 2015. Not only is NG-PON2 a higher bandwidth version of GPON, it also enables new capabilities like wavelength mobility and channel bonding. NG-PON2 co-exists well with GPON, XG-PON, and XGS-PON.
-
50G PON (50G down / 10G or 25G or 50G up): ITU G.9802, 2021. The next PON standard is 50G PON, which will deliver several true 10G services, 5G fronthaul, and residential services all on a single fiber. This standard launched in late 2021, but vendors must create the required chips and products to deliver it.
Since the uplink/downlink wavelengths are different from GPON, XGS-PON adopts the Combo solution to share ODN with GPON. The Combo optical module of XGS-PON integrates GPON optical module, XGS-PON optical module and WDM combiner. In the upstream direction, after the optical signal enters the XGS-PON Combo port, the WDM filters the GPON signal and the XGS-PON signal according to the wavelength, and then sends the signal to different channels. In the downstream direction, the signals from the GPON channel and the XGS-PON channel are multiplexed through WDM, and the mixed signal is downstream to the ONU through the ODN. Due to the different wavelengths, different types of ONUs select the required wavelength through the internal filter to receive the signal. Since XGS-PON naturally supports coexistence with XG-PON, the Combo solution of XGS-PON supports the mixed access of three types of ONUs, namely GPON, XG-PON and XGS-PON. The Combo optical module of XGS-PON is also called three Mode Combo optical module (the XG-PON Combo optical module is called a two-mode Combo optical module because it supports the mixed access of GPON and XG-PON ONUs.
Passive CEX WDM
As Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service providers are seeing a shift in speed & bandwidth needs away from offices, modernizing access networks have become a priority. Migrating to next generation passive optical network (NG-PON2/XGS-PON) without disruption has required coexistence elements (CEx) to bridge the gap, however options on the market are limited to cost-prohibitive proprietary solutions until now.
XGS-PON OLT/ONU SFP
LightOptics' new XGS PON OLT/ONU SFP transceivers empower service providers to leverage both PON infrastructure and existing Ethernet service platforms to effortlessly advance business services. LightOptics validates a tailored solution, including network equipment compatibility and OLT interoperability.
FIBER OPTIC REFLECTOR
Fiber optic reflector, also known as fiber Bragg grating filter, is usually installed in the front end of optical network ONU. Combined with OTDR equipment, optical link point-to-point (PTP) or point-to-multi-point (PTMP) network monitoring can be realized, and network anomalies can be reflected quickly and accurately.
New Arrivals
1577nm
The 1577nm SC/APC refelctor is easily installed on existing ONU equipment to block the 1577nm XG PON (XGS-PON) signals that could cause interference to their existing GPON or RF Overlay customers.
